The Finnish CIGRE National Committee

Our work

CIGRE's technical work is carried out by 16 Study Committees whose task is to initiate and coordinate studies contributing to technical advance in their particular area. Each Study Committee organises its activities via Working Groups and Task Forces. Quite often Working Groups operate as preparatory bodies for IEC in technical matters.

Each Study Committee is constituted by a Chairman, a Secretary, a Special reporter and 24 Regular members at the most, whose term of office is 6 years. In addition, Observer members can be appointed by countries that do not already have a Regular member on the Committee.

Below are the current Finnish members in different Science Committees.

Study Committee meetings are held once a year. There is also the possibility to host a colloquium in conjunction to give a limited number of experts a chance to discuss specific topics in depth.

Essential parts of CIGRE's activities include the publication of its bimonthly journal ELECTRA and the CIGRE Sessions and Symposia. Every even year in Autumn, a CIGRE Session is held in Paris where all Committees are present. In odd years, public Symposiums and/or Regional Meetings are held in different countries. Discussion focuses on particular subjects, covered as well by Study Committees' activities, but requiring deeper investigation with reference to the specific problems of that geographic region.

Go to the CIGRE main site and click "PUBLICATIONS" to find papers on CIGRE Sessions and Symposia, ELECTRA articles, brochures, etc.
